What Is Clonazepam?

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine. It affects chemical compounds in the brain that could be unbalanced to treat seizures and sure types of tension disorders.

Clonazepam, a type of anti-epileptic drug, is used to treat sure seizure disorders (together with absence seizures or Lennox-Gastaut syndrome) in adults and children.

Before taking this medicine
You should not take clonazepam you probably have:

slim-angle glaucoma;

severe liver illness; or

a history of allergic response to any benzodiazepine, such as diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), lorazepam (Ativan), chlordiazepoxide, flurazepam, and others.

To make sure clonazepam is secure for you, tell your physician you probably have ever had:

kidney or liver disease;

glaucoma;

porphyria (a genetic enzyme dysfunction that causes signs affecting the skin or nervous system);

asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary dysfunction (COPD), or different breathing issues;

melancholy or suicidal ideas or behavior;

mental illness, psychosis, or addiction to medication or alcohol; or

when you use a narcotic (opioid) medication.

Some people have ideas about suicide when taking seizure medication. Your physician should check your progress at regular visits. Your family or other caregivers must also be alert to changes in your temper or symptoms.

Comply with your doctor's directions about taking seizure medicine if you're pregnant. Do not begin or stop taking this medicine with out your physician's advice, and tell your physician straight away when you change into pregnant. Clonazepam could cause harm to an unborn baby, and will cause breathing or feeding problems in a newborn. But having seizures during pregnancy might harm both mother and baby.

In case you are pregnant, your name may be listed on a pregnancy registry. This is to track the result of the pregnancy and to judge any effects of clonazepam on the baby.

Clonazepam can pass into breast milk, but effects on the nursing baby aren't known. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding

Don't give this medicine to a child with out medical advice. Clonazepam is just not authorised to treat panic disorder in anybody younger than 18 years old.

How should I take clonazepam?
Take clonazepam exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions in your prescription label. Your doctor may sometimes change your dose to make sure you get one of the best results. Don't use this medicine in larger or smaller quantities or for longer than recommended.
